Tinder Review 2024: Unveiling the World's Most Popular Dating App

The State of Dating Apps and SexELDucation present 🥁Tinder.

Can we call it the OG 🤷🏻‍♀️It was founded in 2012 (back when I was still in college lol) and, fun fact, one of its co-founders went on to found @bumble (it’s feeling like they’re all related at this point).

Target Audience: Tinder’s target audience is wide, likely to attract a large user base. It also differs on the front page vs. fine print. They also acknowledge their competition (which operate under Match Group, Inc.—see previous post).

Tinder is the most popular app worldwide, but a whopping 75% of its users are male. It is also the app with the highest percentage of paid users (51%). Most of Tinder’s features that make it “worth it” are paid, so I’m not necessarily surprised.

Tinder offers similar community guidelines as @hinge and its safety tips are identical. However, it also adds two security offerings: Noonlight and Garbo (yes, that is the app’s real name).

You should know I successfully used photos of my cat to sign up for Tinder (yes she’s gorgeous BUT…). This leads me to believe it’s super easy to create fake profiles (Tinder Swindler anyone?)

Tinder is widely available, which makes its user base high. But your odds of “success” depend on what you’re after. It offers a number of selections for gender, but still prioritizes “man” and “woman.”

While the safety offerings (background checks and on-date safety) seem like nice additions, the lack of transparency on the reporting process makes believe they want to off-board it to other agencies (IMO).

I also find it funny (and kind of a red flag) that the first question in Tinder’s FAQ is, “Will @tinder sponsor my wedding?”

I know many have found what they’re looking for on this app, but from this review, I think there are better apps out there!
