Match Group: Unveiling the Relationship Between Tinder and Hinge

Did you know that Tinder and Hinge operate under the same parent company? (Hint: I didn’t!)

As I’ve delved further into my dating app research, I’ve learned more than I expected. Some good, some disappointments, and some unexpected relationships.

Dating apps are often compared against one another with users trying one to the next and, oftentimes, multiple. It makes sense that a company like Match Group, Inc. would want to secure several different companies and dating audiences under its portfolio. Some popular ones include Hinge, Tinder, Match, Plenty of Fish, and OKCupid, among others.

I first noticed the relationship between @hinge and @tinder when analyzing their safety terms. Match Group has its own advisory council AKA Match Group Advisory Council that includes experts from @humanrightscampaign, @metoomvmt, @rainn, and more.

While I have not gone beyond the scope of Hinge and Tinder (coming soon) in my research, I would expect to find similar statements for other companies that Match Group holds.
