Understanding Stigma in Relationships: When Your Partner Obsessively Inspects for HSV

Yesterday, someone asked me a question in my Friday AMA about their partner.

In case you need this reminder, too…

If your partner accepts your status, there is no reason for them to inspect your body for signs of infection with every encounter.

If your partner is obsessed about potential outbreaks, it signals they still feel conflicted.

If your partner is more concerned about getting HSV than providing pleasure, there is a problem. They’re dehumanizing you.

Don’t be afraid to call out stigma when you see it. You are not your infection. You’re a person worth so much more in your dating life.
