Navigating 2024 Election Emotions

Election seasons can bring a roller coaster of emotions. Hope, fear, and everything in between 🌀

While there have been big moments of hope, excitement, and promise lately, there have also been moments of anger, sadness, and frustration — on so many different levels.

From anger and frustration with politicians— to anger, frustration, and grief with your loved ones.

Since Biden dropped out and with the addition of Walz, I feel like it’s easy to idolize the Harris/Walz campaign. Especially with the work that social media team is putting in 🫡

But on some level, I feel like we all realize that politicians aren’t perfect candidates. Politics is a dirty game, so they say…

Then there are those closest to us. Parents. Caregivers. Family. Friends.

People whose political views have changed before your eyes. People you are grieving while they’re still alive. People that you face in your day-to-day life.

How do you navigate the complexity of these emotions while even trying to maintain your sense of hope?

Short answer: it’s hard.

Some days are better than others. Some people you can step away from, others you have to set boundaries with. Some days you can watch the news, other days it enrages you and you have to find a show you can zone out to instead.

You’re allowed to want people to be better. You’re allowed to experience the waves of emption that come along with navigating conflicting feelings.

I am hopeful but disappointed.
I am optimistic but annoyed.
I am nervous but inspired.

How are you caring for yourself during this election season? You never know who might benefit from what you have to say
