Beyond Common Ground: Navigating True Connection

Well, it happened. I took a vacation with the intent of posting to this account, but the intention quickly floated away (at the same speed that I did on my lake float).

But there was a revelation I had on this trip that I wanted to share as it relates to connection.

There’s a difference between having things in common and having a connection. I believe that both can and do co-exist. It’s not to say we need to be someone’s complete opposite to share in connection—just as we don’t need to be identical in who we are as people.

We can meet someone, strike up conversation and discover we have a lot in common. Maybe it leads to friendship, maybe it leads to romance, maybe it’s just making a part of traveling less awkward and leads to neither.
