Beyond Basics: The Lifelong Impact of Comprehensive Sex Education

When most think sex education, they think of body parts, barrier methods, and reducing the risk of STI transmission and pregnancy.

While learning about body parts and barrier methods is one part of sex education (please teach more about the vulva versus the vagina because 🙃), it’s not the only part of sex education. As demonstrated by this graphic, teaching about barrier methods and safer sex is a small part in a much larger mission.

These three segments could be even further expanded, but I feel this graphic gives a general representation of the importance of truly informative, medically accurate, comprehensive sex education.

Comprehensive sex education isn’t just one class, it provides an ongoing space of awareness and empowerment throughout the lifespan.
