Supporting the Sustainability of Sex Educators: How You Can Help
A colleague and brilliant mind, @sexpositive_families, commented yesterday that my next question to followers should be how they are supporting the sustainability of sex educators—and I couldn’t agree more.
I like to believe that most of us did not enter the field of sexuality for the profit or ~fame~ (whatever that is). Sure, making a living is a thing, however, there is also a stigma that comes with this profession. And it’s so double edged because it is so desperately needed.
Money isn’t everything, but it does matter when looking at a broader picture of survival. In an effort to ensure that Instagram creators, educators, therapists, and the like do not burn out or feel under appreciated for their time and knowledge, sustainable profit is part of that reciprocal care.
If you are unable to support our work through monetary donations or purchases, we always appreciate when you engage with our work—especially since the algorithm is working against us, and more specifically, marginalized educators. While ‘likes’ are appreciated, saves, shares, and comments are more likely to boost our engagement, thus, getting our messages to more people —which is what we all really hope for by being in this space anyway, right?
Thank you again to @sexpositive_families for this idea! Please engage and follow their work, especially if you have young folks in your life!
