Rewriting the Narrative: Confronting STI Stigma and Taking Action

We are educated and socially conditioned to see STIs, and those living with STIs, as dangerous others.

Avoidance is praised and normalized, despite facts that counter many “teachings” from sex ed.

It’s not your fault how you were taught or raised, but it is negligent to choose inaction upon confrontation of these inadequacies in sex education.

Seek regular STI screenings. Normalize asking your partner for their last screening and sharing your results, too. If someone shares their herpes status with you, be curious rather than dismissive.

Inaction is a decision. Inaction is a choice.
