The Future of Herpes Research

What does herpes research and management look like in the future? Here’s what experts say:

Anna Wald, MD, MPH and Christine Johnston, MD, MPH, highlight six (6) key issues for genital herpes over the next 50 years.

These include:

1. Diagnosis
2. Antivirals
3. Vaccines
4. Stigma
5. Fraud
6. Cure

I’m happy to see that fraud is a growing concern among researchers.

Take a scroll through anyone’s comments who mentions herpes or other STIs and there’s almost always a scam or spam account trying to advertise herbs or cures (they’re not real, btw). I include unqualified “herpes coaches” in this category, too.

After reading through these issue areas, what are your thoughts? What’s most interesting or important to you?
