Herpes Education: Bridging the Gap Between Science and Stigma
I took some of yesterday’s post and molded it into a new graphic. I thought it would be helpful for some to see the basic science versus socialization of herpes side-by-side. This is simplified.
Most sex education programs do not teach science or current data, they teach and reinforce social stigmas and stereotypes.
Glossing over symptoms of herpes and other STIs isn’t enough. If you, your educational program, or health practice is not educating about statistics and symptoms in collaboration with accurate and inclusive screening/testing methods and navigating relationships with STIs... then there is work to be done.
