The Never-Ending 'Sex Talk': Why It’s More Than One Conversation

I read a recent @nytimes article entitled, “The ‘Sex Talk’ Is Actually a Series of Talks.”

For most sexuality professionals, this is commonly known. But for caregivers/parents and anyone working through a culture of shame, as well as their own inter-generational shame, it can be a bit of a shock that the sex talk isn’t just one (expectedly awkward) conversation.

After I read the article, I did a bit of reflecting myself. The ‘Sex Talk’ never really ends. The experiences we have discussing sexuality with caregivers, parents, and educators ultimately shapes the conversations that we are able to have with our sexual partners well into adulthood.
